Another Day at the Lake and a Few More Pictures

Sue:
We went to Sean's house again. Though this was the second time to visit his house, I was still excited. We took a boat. He repaired the boat which had deflated. Almost all of my friends took it and they really enjoyed it. One of the manager took the picture of June falling from the boat. It was really funny and cool.

We left his house earlier than i thought because he had made dinner reservations. We went to an Italian restaurant. We ate bread, a hard-shelled mussel, and spaghetti. The spaghetti tasted really good. I had never eaten this kind of spaghetti with lots of shell fish.

I think the time is flying really fast. It is already the middle of the second week. During the time I have left, I will try to do things that I cannot do in Korea.

Steve:
Today we went to Mr. Sean's house again. Like the last time we visited his house, the lake in front of his house was calm and peaceful. It made me feel peaceful to see such peaceful water. That's the reason why I like to visit his house. Also, I got on the big tube that Mr. Sean pulled behind the boat. Whoever rode it fell off because Mr. Sean drove so wildly.

Then we went to a spaghetti restaurant for dinner. I've never eaten such great spaghetti in my life. Also, the size was big enough to make me full. When I go back to Korea, I'll try to make it.

June:
Today in class we learned bout unfamiliar phrases and vocabulary. Professor Carol showed the movie Stranger Than Fiction. Some phrase we learned: "he drew a blank," "Windsor knot," "futility," etc.

After class, we went to Dr. Sean's house again and went tubing in the lake. I had a great day even though my body ached a little bit.

Kevin:
We went to Mr. Sean's house located on the lake side. It is a very cozy and beautiful house. We rode the boat. Afterward, we went to a spaghetti house Mr. Sean recommended. The taste was pretty good and the service was also good.

We also dropped by the park. It was very large and included a little lake. To get some exercise, we walked around the park and took some pictures with funny poses. We played basketball at the court. I thought I was too overheated to win the game. I should have been more relaxed. I'd like to apologize to all the players who played with me, even though the games were really enjoyable.

Movie, Bowling, Cooking Contest

Rollins:
After we finished our class, we went to the theater. We saw the Green Lantern movie in 3D. I had been looking forward to seeing that movie for a while, but the movie wasn't good enough to satisfy my expectation. We also went bowling, too. It was the first time I have gone bowling in my life, therefore, my bowling score was awful.

During dinner, we had a cooking contest. Our team made some kind of noodles which were an insult to the original noodles in Korea. But we enjoyed the moment. Because of the above things, I am really tired right now.

Nathan:
Today we watched the movie called “Green Lantern.” It was my first time watching a movie in 3D but it wasn’t as good as I had expected. After watching it, we went bowling and it was very fun and exciting. But sadly my fingers hurt and it was hard for me to use my fingers for the rest of the day.
We had to cook our dinner and it was very challenging but also a great chance for me to learn how hard it is to actually cook. Today really was a tiring day but it was exciting.

Maybe we can upload today's pictures tomorrow. We don't have them today.

A Busy and Amazing Weekend

Minneapolis at night

University of Minnesota--Twin Cities Campus

The Amusement Park

George:
Friday afternoon we departed for Minneapolis. It too five hours to get there. When we arrived in Minneapolis, we went to the premium outlet. It was cheaper than any other malls in the U.S.A. I bought many clothes in the outlets. After shopping, we slept in the Millenium Hotel.

We went to the U of M Twin Cities campus the next day. It was very big and we met a senior student who was our guide. After touring the campus, we shopped at the Mall of America but the most impressive one was touring the twin cities campus.

We also visited the amusement park, too. We had an enjoyable time there.

Bong:
During the weekend we went to Minneapolis. We arrived there after driving for five hours. It was the biggest city I had ever seen in America. On Saturday we visited the Twin Cities campus which is like a city. If I had been in Korea, I could not have imagined how big the Twin Cities campus was. Especially, the American football stadium was magnificent.  If I gp to the Twin Cities campus in a few years, I will go and cheer the U of M team with my friends.

After that, we went to the Valley Fair. There were many exciting rides such as bumper cars and the wave.

Half of the summer camp is over and I will spend more valuable time with my friends.

Daisy:
After ESL class on Friday, we headed off to Minneapolis to visit the Twin Cities campus. I heard it was going to be a long trip but I was too excited to care. On our way we went to Albertville outlet and shopped. The outlet seemed to have more than fifty stores, so even after 3 hours we were not finished, only tired and exhausted.

The TC campus was huge. It was much bigger than I imagined. During the campus tour I sometimes forgot that the buildings all belonged to the same campus. I was especially interested in the engineering department. The blocks were simple and normal, but it felt different from the others, maybe because it held my interest. The library was awesome. It looked like a traditional hotel and it was also big. The student fitness center was more than impressive. The tour changed my thoughts towards the TC campus.

On Saturday we went to a Korean buffet--the first Korean food we have had in Minnesota. I actually think Korean foods are the best in teh world. ON our way home, we went to the Valley Fair amusement park. It was also huge. I think pretty much everythign in America is big. We all loved it.

Our visit to Minneapolis was a very exciting and enjoyable one.

A Day at the Lake

Sue:
Today, we went to Sean’s house. I had been looking forward to going there. We rode in a car for half an hour. The weather was gppd. After we seen the lake which was much larger than I thought it would be, we finally reached his house.
His house was very big and had lots of entertainments areas such as a singing room, a ping-pong table, and a playground. We really enjoyed it. Especially, I enjoyed riding his boat the most. He drove very fast so that I could not breathe well, but it felt like flying through the sky. It was really cool! :)

We had dinner with some pork, corn and potatoes. It was peaceful and we rested well that night.

Yuni:
My whole body is aching now. I flexed my arms so hard that they hurt. I rode a tube boat and I tried not to fall into water. Finally, I fell to water because Sean did a sudden curve. But it was so fun! Before riding boat, we ate BBQ in Seans’s home. Sean’s home was really clean and bigger than I expected. It was placed right in front of the lake.

I thought that if I had a garden in front of a lake, I would get a puppy and I would dream about buying a boat. I was exhausted but today was exciting day.

Dave:
Today was special day. There were two reasons. One reason was that we visited Dr. Shin's home. Another reason was that I was scolded by Dr. Shin and our teacher Choi. Butmy feelings are not hurt at all. Instead, I feel thankful to them because I learned about life. That's why today is special. I'm really sorry for my big mistake. (T.T)

Anyway my friends and I ate many kinds of gogi, at the barbecue party. We got together around a bonfire and talked a lot. We also took the boat today. Taking the boat was very nice. It may have been the most memorable event. When came back dormitory, most of us were exhausted and fell a sleep until this morning.

June:

Today we went to Mr. Sean's home. We roasted bacon, sweet corn, and potatoes. It was so delicious and it made us full.  We also took a boat and went tubing. It was like water skiing. Captain Sean handled his boat hard, so we were hanging on. After boating, we also played dodge ball. Unfortunately, our team lost.

Nathan:
In contrast to yesterday, the weather today was fairly nice and the sunshine was so strong that I had hard time seeing. The movie we saw in class was very funny and I enjoyed watching it. It was very nice since it helped me very much. After lunch, we all went to Dr. Shin’s house where all of us really enjoyed very much. I rode on the boat and it was very exciting for me to ride. One thing I didn’t like was the great number of mosquitoes during the night. They really bothered me. I hated them.
